MOVING TO HOUSTON, TEXAS!

Hello all my bloggy friends!  We start our traveling today from Augusta, GA to Houston, TX!  We will be stopping somewhere tonight along the way and then finishing the trip tomorrow.  Please pray for safety for us.  We are very excited.  This move is just temporary.  We will be heading back up to Alaska sometime between March and May of next year.  That's where we really want to be!

I'll try to catch up with everybody once we get there and get settled.  Don't forget about me!  I have posts to auto post for Monday.  But hopefully I'll get the 52Q done for Tuesday and the CCC Challenge done for Wednesday after we get there.

Big Smiles and Hugs to you All!

CCC# 48 THANKSGIVING CARD

Happy Wednesday!  You know what happens on Wednesdays, right?  That's the day Cricut Card Challenge posts a brand new challenge for the week!  This week Challenge #48 is to make a Thanksgiving card using the card feature from any cartridge you'd like, and using any colors you'd like. Sounds pretty simple, huh?

Only problem is this was a real challenge for me because I don't have any cartridges with any Thanksgiving themed cuts AND with the Card Feature.  What's a girl to do?  Improvise!

I pulled out Paper Pups (one of my most favorite carts) and found the HAPPY cut on one of the card features.  Perfect!  Now, how to turn this into a Thanksgiving card?

Next I pulled out my DCWV The Autumn Splendor stack and let the paper do some work for me.  Not only are the papers in this stack sturdy cardstock, but the colors are vibrate FALL shades, some glitter, some foil, and some phrases too!

Here are the details:

  • Paper Pups page 106 Card Feature with shift for "HAPPY" cut @ 5 1/4"
  • All papers and phrases cut from DCWV The Autumn Splendor Stack
  • All papers edged with Colorbox brown ink
  • Inside pages cut @ 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
  • Leaves cut out and adhered with Foam Tape for dimension

Easy Peasey Lemon Squeezy.  :)

Hope over to CCC and play along!  We want to see what you create!

PAPER PLAYTIME CH#22 - HALLOWEEN

Hey, guys!  Isn't this door hanger cute?!  This week at PAPER PLAYTIME Challenge #22 is to make any HALLOWEEN paper project you want to make.  Our sponsor this week is THE STAMPING BOUTIQUE.   I used this image from them.  So cute!  I colored it with Crayola markers and Crayola crayons.  No fancy high dollar Copics for me.  I like my crayons and markers just fine.  :)

The circles were cut with the Cricut using CREATE A CRITTER page 43 cut @ 5".
I threaded some orange and green ribbon through the holes on the outer circle, tied a bow, added some jute for the hanger, and VOILA!  Ta-Daa!  'Tis done.

Come play along with us at PAPER PLAYTIME!  Who knows? You may be this week's winner of some nifty FREE DIGIS!!

SUBSCRIBE TO MY BLOG!

Good morning!  Guess what?!  Now you subscribe via email to Pause Dream Enjoy!

I've never used this service before, so we will learn how it works together.

Basically there is a button on my sidebar that says SUBSCRIBE.  Type in your email address, and you will receive an email asking for you to verify your subscription.  Once your verify, you will receive an email when I have new posts go up on my blog.

You'll only get at the most one email per day.  So if I posted twice on a day, you'd still get one email...... I think.

I set it up to send out emails between 7am - 9am.  I'm thinking if I post today at 2pm and then again at 4pm, you'll get one email the next morning alerting you of both posts.  But like I said, I'm learning too, so we'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Have you posted a pic of yourself wearing Halloween socks yet?  Click the GREEN SOCKED FOOT under my blog banner to go to the post where you can do that and see everyone else's socked feet.  :)

TWO THINGS

Two things to share with you today.  Ever notice it's always "two" things?  It's never one thing or three things.  Hmmmm, just an observation.

First of all, Mama & Daddy brought home their new toy today.  Yes, you heard that right.  Cricut is in their house!  Hop over to their blog to see a picture of their first creation and hear highlights of our hilarious afternoon together.  CLICK HERE TO GO TO THEIR BLOG.

Second thing, who all has Halloween socks?  Come on.  You know you do.  You got them from the Dollar Tree or Target or somewhere.  I thought it would be fun for us to show a picture of us wearing our Halloween socks.  And who knows?  Maybe at Christmas we can do this again and show a picture of us wearing our Christmas toe socks.  LOL

Here is our Bonnie wearing her Frankenstein socks:
Between now and Halloween, you can take a picture of yourself wearing your Halloween socks and post a link here with the blue button below.  Come on, you know you want to play along.  If at least 50 people will post links to pictures of them wearing their Halloween socks below, I'll do a small give-away.  Nothing major, just something fun for playing along.  But we need at least 50 people to play to have the drawing!

TRICK OR TREAT, SMELL MY FEET.....

CCC #47 - BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Today begins a brand new challenge over at Mary's Cricut Cardz Challenge Blog!
For CH#47 make a card for Breast Cancer Awareness Month using any cartridges and any colors you'd like.
My card is very, very simple.
I used the PAPER DOLL DRESS UP cartridge, page 42 cut @ 4".  (It's actually the top of the hula girl's outfit, but hopefully here it looks like a bra.  Remember when we were little girls and our bras had tiny little bows on them?)
Some of you may not appreciate my humor, so if I offend, my apologies.... but.... the inside says,
"Feel Your Boobies.
Or See Someone Who Will."
I think it's funny.  It cracks me up!  LOL
Hop over to CCC and play along!
:)

I AM SO EXCITED FOR MY MAMA & DADDY!!

This is my Mama & Daddy on the far right with her 2 brothers and their wives.  Good looking family, huh?
Many of you know that my Mama went through a TERRIBLE ordeal last year re-breaking her hip she had previously had replaced.  It was an awful time for all of us - very touch and go there for a while.  I wondered if she would ever walk again.  But she came through it!!

And many of you know my Daddy was really sick this year.  It's one of the reasons we moved back from Alaska after only being there for such a short time.  We just felt like we needed to be here closer to them.  He had triple bypass surgery several weeks ago and is once again thriving and back to his ol' crazy, fun self.

God is good!

Mama and Daddy love to craft.  Mama likes to scrapbook and make cards.  Daddy likes projects and wood working crafts.  They have gone with me on my Cricut journey and endured all my excitement this little machine gives me.  They have followed my blog and YouTube videos.
Guess what?  Somebody else has the Cricut bug now!  LOL  Yep, Joann's has them on sale and they are itching to buy one.  Daddy started a blog for them, so hopefully they will be posting projects they make.  And he is now a "follower" of Mary's Cardz TV blog.  :)  I'm so excited for them!!!

So, all my bloggy friends, go check out his one little post on his brand new blog.  CLICK HERE TO VISIT MAMA AND DADDY'S BLOG.  Become a follower of it, and watch and see their Cricut crafting journey from the very beginning.  This is going to be a wild, fun ride folks!!

And make sure you tell them that their baby daughter, Janis, sent you over.  :)

MONSTER MASH BLOG HOP!

Welcome to our MONSTER MASH BLOG HOP!!!  We are so glad you are hopping along with us!  Aren't the projects you've seen so far AMAZING?!!  I'm telling you, I'm on a hop with some extremely talented ladies!  This is so much fun!!

So, if you came here from Dream Of Crafting's blog, you are on the right track!
If not, CLICK HERE to start back at the beginning.

Here is a short video showing my project, but for all the details and measurements, see post below.

Aren't Explosion Boxes cool?!
Here are the pictures of all 4 sides of my box and the top of the lid.

Here you can see that when I remove the lid, the images are only attached at the top, so they come off with the lid.

This is the inside of the box!  I made a little box inside to hold some candy.  Yes, it's SUGAR FREE.  LOL

As promised, here are the details.
For Box Lid :

Start off with 8" x 8" cardstock.
Score @ 2" all the way around.
On opposite sides where the score lines cross, cut a slit up from the bottom to the crossing score line.
Fold up sides and adhere.

For the Box Layers Bottom:
For each page section, cut and score with size indicated, then cut away 4 corners leaving a "+".

Start off with 11 5/8" square, score @ 3 7/8" on all sides.
Then 11 1/4" square, score @ 3 3/4" on all sides.
Then 10 7/8" square, score @ 3 5/8" on all sides.
Then 10 1/2" square, score @ 3 1/2" on all sides.
Adhere all bottoms together, but leave sides unattached so you can flip through the pages adding pictures, journaling, etc.

You make the inside candy box just like you make the lid, but with smaller measurements.
Start off with 6" x 6" cardstock.
Score @ 1 1/2" all the way around.
Cut slits on opposite sides up to where the score lines cross.
Fold up all sides and adhere.

Did you see what the GRAND PRIZE is?  Crazy About Cricut will be drawing a winner for this Sweet Treat!

Pretty good TREAT, huh?
For a chance to win, make sure you visit all the blogs on the hop and leave a comment at every one.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!  You next stop is The Creative Stamper Spot.

FREE RIDES!

CUTE!  I love Mini Monsters!!!!
This is my submission for Abby's 1st Challenge at Scrapbookaholic - a Color challenge - use Purple, Orange, and Black (any shades) on your card.  This is what I came up with.

Card base black from Recollections cut as Business size card with Martha Stewart scoring board.
Background starry night paper from stash.
FREE RIDES phrase cut from MINI MONSTERS page 66 @ 2 1/4"
Crow page 63 cut @ 2 1/4"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATI!

Our daughter, Kati, is 20 today! Hard to believe.  Amazing really, since I'm not getting any older.  Funny how that works.
I made this fun card from the Cricut Lite cartridge MEOW that my sweet friend, SHEREE from Cravin' Scrappin', let me borrow.  THANK YOU, SHEREE!  You guys hop over and check out her blog.  She has WINTER FROLIC and did an amazing ice skating card.  I love the way she only embossed the snowflakes on the top.  She's so creative!  I ordered WINTER FROLIC from Joann's and it should be here in a few days.  So excited!  My next cart purchase will be BIRTHDAY BASH.  Have you guys gone to look at the digital handbook?  I had no idea until Sheree pointed it out, that is much more than birthdays.  It's got a chunky font, which I love, and tags, card feature, phrases.... it'a amazing!  I can't wait to get it!
I'm so rambling.... on to this card.....

I didn't use any background paper on this one.  I know, shocker, right?!  I always use background paper.  So this is new and different for me.  I like it.
Kitty was cut @ 3 3/4"
Prima flowers
Rhinestones from Joann's
Bubble sentiments from RAK
Buttons and twine from Joann's
Cardbase and all other papers from Recollections

Our daughter, Kati's nickname is Queen Kati or Kitty Kat - so this was PURRRR-fect for her.  hahahahaha

ZOO!

You know I love surprises!  Yesterday morning, Tom said, "Get ready to go!"  Yeah!  I wonder where we are off too?  Hmmm.... we went to Chic fil' a drive through for breakfast - that's rare.  We usually eat sausage and eggs at home on the weekends.  Hmmmm.... we stopped at the ATM.  We hardly ever carry cash.  Where in the world are we going?  Then we hit the interstate.  So we are going somewhere out of town.  I just love an adventure!

Well, we went to Riverbanks Zoo & Gardens in Columbia, SC.  What a fun time!  Our daughter, Kati, whose 20th birthday is this week met us there - another surprise for me.

We had a blast!  I was disappointed though that all the gorillas were hiding.  I was so looking forward to seeing a gorilla - I've never seen one in person.

Here are tons of pics.  Yes, I'll be ordering some photos from Shutterfly this week and making a ZOO mini album.  How fun!!!

OH, and I don't think I've told you guys yet..... we are moving.... AGAIN.  We really want to get back to Alaska as soon as possible.  We miss being there so much.  The company Tom works for in Alaska has a contract job in Texas for about 6-7 months.  So we are moving to Texas in a few weeks for a 6-7 month stop-over before heading back to Alaska.  It's so fun to be married to a man with a great sense of adventure!

Enjoy the ZOO pics!!
